Gluten-free jelly oranges

05/04/2013 By Kate Crocker 8 Comments

Jelly Oranges

Jelly oranges are a great party food. Even though they’ve been around for ages, kids love the novelty of them and they look great. They’re also a cheap and easy gluten-free party food option. At my daughter’s recent birthday party, the kids all ignored the pretty pink cupcakes and tucked into the jelly oranges instead.

Making them is simple and can be done the night before, which, for me, adds to their attraction. Anything that cuts down on food preparation time on the day is a huge bonus. Click through here to Babyology, a fantastic blog about all sorts of kiddy stuff. That will direct you to another blog that has a step by step how-to guide with lots of great pictures. Just remember to double-check that your jelly is gluten-free. Enjoy!

My all-time party favourite! It’s amazing though, every time I serve them a parent asks “How did you do that?!”

At least that keeps the magic alive. Thanks for the inspiration!

What a wonderful idea. Shame this wasn’t around when I played netball. The break for fruit would have been much more fun.

There would have been some very hyped up netballers!

I had never heard of jelly oranges before, but I really like the idea.

Glad you like them. They may be one of those funny Australian inventions, but they are well worth a try!

They look beautiful! I haven’t heard of them either, maybe it is an Australian invention, and if so, what a great one 🙂

Ha! Yes, we have some peculiarly fantastic food Down Under, for example pavlova and vegemite!
