Gluten-Free Girl accepts the warm rays of the sun

07/12/2012 By Kate Crocker 2 Comments

I’m new to blogging. When I started this blog back in October, I subscribed to just two other blogs, and neither of them were about food. Since then I have had one heck of an education about food blogs and there have been some that I’ve especially enjoyed. Gluten Free Girl is one of them.

Just as I discovered her, GFG Shauna and her chef husband Danny, were in the process of launching a special iPad app for Thanksgiving, conducting a video tour of their local supermarket and inviting subscribers to donate funds to purchase one of the many video tutorials that they had made in the lead-up to Thanksgiving. From what I can tell, this is ground-breaking in the blogosphere. Add to that a huge encyclopaedia of online recipes and a couple of cookbooks and it’s easy to tell that this is the stuff of legends. It also must be incredibly exhausting.

So it was with a bit of sadness that yesterday I read Shauna’s post, titled accepting the warm rays of the sun. GFG’s blog will now take a new direction, sometimes but not always about recipe development, sometimes about wider gluten-free issues, and sometimes about whatever she wishes to write. We will have to wait and see what this all means and how the new site will look, but in the meantime, to Shauna and Danny, thankyou. You’ve been passionate trailblazers and have made such a difference. I am looking forward to working my way through the recipes on your site and really, really believe that there is much to be learned from you.

Good luck!
